rising on this site…(what blogging has bought me)
…is the house that blogging has started to build.

With a big chunk from my (irri) separation money and some contribution from my brother (the seafarer)…our home is starting to rise.
I’ve been hesitating to post this, because it isn’t as grand looking (at least not yet!) as what Darren bought with his blogging money. But since he asked what blogging bought me…here it is:
Well my blogging $$ has bought little things, from a new cellphone, a domestic airfare, to my son’s disposable pull-up pants and milk formula or even slipppers that I fancy or even a new tube of lipstick, to sacks of rice, to paying the rent (previously) and moving expenses.
Little things only, but now it is starting to build a solid shelter for my family, since the roof of half of the old house was blown by the typhoon couple of months ago. I decided to build anew instead of just fixing the roof. Much like putting new wine into new wineskins instead of the old.

It would still be a long while but we are taking little steps at a time to build it. Who knows, maybe before Christmas it would be whole and roofed with some finishings.

While others think this may be an ambitious project, this is a family effort, where I contribute one blogging month at a time until this house is built and strongly roofed (the one in the photo is just temporary roofing).
Until then…I can’t think yet of other things or projects to put my blogging money into.

kuya raine

For now, Glenn (my nephew) is what Raine has got close for a brother. Raine is a fine kuya (big brother/cousin) who dotes on Glenn a lot while Glenn looks up to Raine so much, these days he is into imitation of all that Raine says and does.
Still, Raine is a lot jealous whenever he notices that I pay more attention to Glenn than I do him.
Well, I can’t imagine having another one yet, so I guess I’ll just be a loving aunt.
While Raine is secured with the big family around him these days.
Life is mostly great when surrounded by family.

blogger, interrupted
These days there are only two things that I would die for:
1) an electricity generator at home. the power interruptions in my part of the world are becoming a HUGE PITA. ;-S
2) a broadband connection at home (or even dial-up!). the rainy days are here, getting out to town to get online is becoming a HUGE effort.
Surely I need more online time to improve my blogging productivity, efficiency and marketing.
Meanwhile, Hsien-Hsien Lei of B5media’s Genetics and Health interviewed me last week.

best buddies

As far as my pre-Raine days, I’ve always wanted a child of mine to be one of my best buddies. Someone I could do things and talk stuff together with.
At three-and-a-half, I would like to believe that Raine and I are best buddies in a very special way. We do clash, lots of times over silly things. But we kiss and make-up instantly and miss each other a lot on few hours or days (occasions) that we are apart.
(If I am to be away for a few days, he has to know where, when and why, couples of days before. He knows about all instances that I not at home. When he arrives from school, or when I arrive from town, he hugs me so tight like he’s never seen me in days! Sometimes he surprises me with phrases like: kamusta na pare?)
In the past I’ve always thought that I’d meet my match in a husband. Boy, I am wrong! I met my match in Raine. He is so much like me in many different ways: volatile, impatient, stubborn, intelligent, resourceful and sweet and cute…he he. But seriously, he is so much like me. Thank God for that for I know that he will survive and pull himself through whatever life fancies to bring him in the future.
Well I just hope that I could be less panicky and strict and let my hair loosen a bit in things that concerns Raine. Knowing that he loves me is enough for the moment, that will tide me over to the end of my life. The mere thought that things are going to be alright where he is concerned puts a smile on my face, with a slight kurot sa puso.

the school boy
It took a while for me to take Raine’s photo in his school get-up. He only goes to nursery school but he is wearing a uniform sized for an average Filipino grade 3 pupil.
Well, by such an image who would have thought that he still acts like a baby in so many ways. But he’s just 3.5 years old, so he is excused for acting like one.
That top will not fit anymore in the next couple of months!
He’s growing and glowing and weighs 25 kilos. I can hardly carry him these days.
