boys’ night out
This afternoon Raine tagged along with his Titos. The twins and their band have a playing gig in Gubat tonight and Raine went with them to watch the show. The thing is they’re gonna be sleeping over in one of the band mates’ house in Gubat. Raine’s going to sleep there tonight too together with the boys.
Raine’s only 6 and already he feels like he is 16! I packed his bag, put some goodies in there with some bottled water, to make sure he doesn’t go hungry. Also, a change of clothings went in the bag. Some money to one of the twins, to buy more food for Raine. Then I sent him off. I got nothing, Zero Halliburton and only a loud ‘bye ‘ma’! as he went along.
It’s going to be interesting how the sleeping arrangement is going to go. It’s the first night that Raine isn’t with Mommy nor Lola.

raine turned 6!
Yesterday, my baby boy turned 6.

To Raine: Eventhough you have grown up into a man, you will always remain my baby, my Raine-raine put-put, my Baba. I love you very much anak.
last minute rush
Today I had to rush to the city to withdraw some money and buy a few stuff lacking for our noche buena recipes. To my dismay! There are just way too long queues at every atm machine. Triple that and that’s the long queue at the supermarket cashiers. It was really horrible. The minute I stepped out of the jeepney, I wished my money wasn’t just credited by the bank last night to my account.
What is it with Filipinos and last minute Christmas shopping?! You’ll never thought that there is a financial crisis when people are buying left and right, in bulks. There was one lady in the supermarket today - a balikbayan - her 4 carts were overflowing with goodies. She must be the hermana in their family reunion this year.
Well I’m just glad I made it home in one piece. Now my yummy fruit salad is already chilling in the fridge. Before it’s dark, the pasta must be boiled, the sauce subsequently cooked.
I’m thinking of taking a nap…so that I’ll have the energy to get up later at midnight.
Merry Christmas everyone! Enjoy your noche buena.

we’re having a quiet christmas
The way it is in the barrio, it is quiet even during this time of year when Christmas is almost here. I like it just the way it is, as opposed to the hassle and buzzle of the cities. Especially now that it is lightly raining, people are just inside their houses tending into their little routines and mainly just hanging out with family members.
However, the moment you ride the jeepney and make it into the nearest city, it is crowded where everyone is doing their last minute shopping. I’d rather not go if I can help it. In fact I bought our Christmas groceries already two weekends ago just to avoid the long lines in the supermarkets.
Well who needs to look for travel deals when you can spend the quietest Christmas right here, right now.

can’t brag about my pre-christmas weight this year
Last year I was able to because I was thin. This year I can’t because I ballooned up to I don’t know how much pounds because I am even scared to know it. Ha ha. I may have to scourge the best diet pills before this year is over. See that photo in the previous post? Yes, that’s me!
Hayyy…with all the festivities of the holidays and with all the food that is going to be served…I can’t resist it. And with all the daily rains around here, I can’t even walk outside to burn some calories.
Well I think I’ll be house-bound by 2009!

raine is turning 6!
Where did the time go? My little baby is turning 6 in 7 days. Sometimes I can’t believe it. I still remember like it was just yesterday when I first saw those cute round eyes staring at me at the hospital’s nursery room. Now he stands up up to my breasts and speaks his mind all the time.
Many people around us are saying I have spoiled him a lot. Maybe I did, I’m his mom and can’t help to indulge him in the littlest of things. However, many people can’t believe that I am a strict disciplinarian too when it’s really necessary: healthy grilling, so to speak. And then we play a lot too. It is only with Raine that I can be a child too. To my mother’s dismay! He he.
Wow, my baby will be in first grade soon (in June 2009!), I still can’t believe it sometimes.

’tis the season
Last Wednesday, Raine had his Christmas party at school. He played Santa in the program:

But he still wants a laptop for Christmas. Hmmm…I’m running out of time and money!
on blog offers
While I am enjoying blogging at Well Woman Blog, i feel bad that I only get paid for 4 posts/month. That’s about 1 post a week only. It has been two weeks and already I am getting emails of offers to shout out of women’s health supplement products. I wonder what I’m gonna get next, orovo detox reviews?
That would be the day!
advanced christmas gift
I’m grinning from ear to ear because as I type this I am peering into my new 15″ widescreen LCD monitor. The thing I got yesterday together with a new PC set that came with these specs:
Intel Dual Core 1.8 GHz
1 GB RAM
…for the bargain price of 16,200 PhP!
Quite a change from my old karag-karag system that I was recently using with a hazy CRT monitor.
Maraming Salamat kay Santa Claus sa maagang pamasko sa akin.
blog plug
Creative Weblogging has turned on the Danze faucets on some of its retired blogs and one of them recently revived is the Well Woman Blog. The blog - covering all about women’s health - will now be authored by me.
Please visit it, even though I’ll be updating only once a week. For now at least.
13 days before Christmas
…and all I want for Christmas is not my two front teeth, not a new tv stand nor a computer monitor. Not any material stuff but all I want for Christmas is for the rain to stop and for Raine to stop adding to his Christmas wishlist!
Hey I wouldn’t trade Christmas in the province to the one in Manila or the big cities. It’s quieter here and most importantly…less gastos.
here comes the sun
4 days of continuous rain and finally here comes the sun.

on the other side of the world…
…winter is starting. Soon they’ll be needing heated mattress pads! Thank God I’m not in a winter place. Yet I’ve been complaining a LOT about the heavy rains here. It’s just that I hate mud sometimes and the rain just makes me really sad.
The next time I’m about to start complaining, I’ll just think about the looming winter on the other side of the world and complain no more.

not yet
Yes dears, I’m in love and loved by somebody. Wag nyo na kilatisin, akin na lang. He’s scared of you guys, already. Ha ha ha ha. Ngatog na ang tuhod nya. But he’s pretty sure about all these. Surer than I’ll ever be. Don’t worry we’re not shopping for engagement rings yet. Not just yet.

monday or tuesday?
Today is Tuesday right? It feels like Monday though.
