Starting next week, Raine and I will be living in the city 5 days a week. I’ve just rented a room for us, walking distance to and from the school. The owner of the said room is the mom of one of Raine’s classmates.
The room is located at the back of their fenced house. In front are room of bedspacers. The room was rented to me for 1,000 pesos a month and I can use their kitchen. Not that I’ll be cooking regularly. In fact we have been having lunch at the school’s canteen for 25 pesos per combo meal. Isn’t that cheap? Well the food isn’t gourmet, but it will do.
I have realized that we spend about a 100 pesos for fare alone (jeep and tricycle) everyday. For 20 school days in a month, that is already 2,000 pesos! For the rent alone, I have already saved 1,000 pesos.
Besides…if we live near the school, Raine doesn’t have to wake up at 5 am. Now we can even get out at 5 minutes before 7. The school’s flag ceremony is at 710 am. It wouldn’t take us 5 minutes to walk to the school’s gate! Isn’t that swell?!
Then we won’t be too tired by the daily commute. Especially Raine.Moreoever, now that we are in the city on school days…Raine and I will be saved from my mother’s yaki-yak-yaks in the mornings. She does that because she gets mad at Raine for being so slow in the mornings. Ikaw ba naman ang batang gisingin ng 5 am?! Raine is always complaining that his eyelids wouldn’t open!
So…tomorrow afternoon we will go to the said rented room to bring our stuff and get settled in. Then on Friday afternoons, we go home and spend the weekend here. Hopefully our mornings will be peaceful this time.

uy, city girl ka na pala ngayon!
I was wondering if you would last with the daily commute. At least you found a solution. sa old house ba nina dr. chacon?
for meals, i suggest you try the “karinderia” just by the gate of the bulwagan. they make great gulay. they also have great variety. kung lunch time, you have to be there before 11:30 kasi mabilis maubos ang ulam. reasonable prices. I’m not sure pero parang wala sila ulam pag hapon na

hahaha! thanks honey. oo sumuko ako sa gastos at pagod.
hayyy

nope, 2 blocks before the fire station. doon ako nakakuha ng room.

we eat lunch sa school canteen. para di na kami lalabas, tipid sa tricyle fare and then iwas sa sobrang init!

so ang problema na lang ang sa dinner. wala na bang iba ka pa na ma-i-suggest where to eat na matino naman?

July 5th, 2009 at 4:03 am
hahaha city gurl ka na!
i am familiar with that area around that school. andyan lang ang botica nang pinsan ko. besides malayo naman talaga ang pag dyip from gubat to sorsogon. worse, mahirap pag maulan. glad you did what you have to do. tama lang yon.

glo, pag mga bandang five na, maraming nagtitinda ng ulam sa tabi ng public market. sa side ng ukay ukay. kung nasa front ka ng market (good luck front), papasok ka and just before the main market buildings, nasa right side. mas malapit kung dun ka dadaan sa may tapat ng lucky. marami din ulam doon pero di ko alam if masarap. all i ever brought there was ukoy. definetely, mura. sa mike and jerry, masarap pero mahal
July 5th, 2009 at 10:05 am
manay cat: oo nga, awa ako kay raine. tapos mag-iingay pa ang nanay ko!
hahahaha
reynz: parang wala nang botica ngayon sa area na yan. barangay talisay, right?
honey: thanks again, i will definitely check those out. what about tia tinay’s, nag se-serve ba sila ng regular meals?
re: mike and gerry: sobrang daming beses na akong kumain dito. kaso ma mahal pa s jollibee!
hahahahaha!

what i can suggest kung ulam sa hapunan hinahanap mo, try mo ung mga bbque sa me shopping, ung malaking barbeque is P15,ung isa matipid ng iulam basta’s madami kang kanin hehehe, pero mahal ung mga luto nilang ibang ulam at kalimitan, masarap as pulutan, kina tia tinay naman, wala na din atang tira after lunch not unless dun ka sa kapihan sa bibincahan. ano kaya kung bilhin mo na ung ulam niyo sa hapunan kasabay ng pananghalian at initin na lang sa gabi hehehe.
July 5th, 2009 at 3:35 pm

July 5th, 2009 at 7:22 pm
ang bibincahan is in your way to bacon district, kun aram mo an crossing sa snhs and fatima and galing ka sa gubat, you turn right, brgy cogon then brgy bibincahan na, ung kina tia tinay, halos tapat un ng maliit na daan papunta sa haus nina gov. sally lee, nasa left side ung kapihan ni tia tinay.

Hi Glo!=) You did the right thing. Kaluoy talaga si Raine na very early namata & ma-commute pa. Ikaw din syempre, additional stress for you. So mas mayad na yadi kamo sa city.;D
Igwa din ulam sa may street in front of City Fire Dept. bldg., pababa didto, near Pilot School. Until gab-i open sinda. Also sa Tsibugan sa Polvorista (kanto of Monreal St., karayray san Rawit-Dawit, near Gerpat’s Tailoring), open sinda hanggang gab-i.
Also, if barbeque an gusto ni Raine, in front of the Capitol, sa unahan san park, yadto an Lalan’s (near the Provincial gymnasium), kasiram san barbeque ninda. P6 each lang, medyo smaller an slices compared to the one at Shopping Center, but okay na pang-ulam din. We order from them thru text every time we attend a potluck party, very convenient kasi, pick-up lang.=)
Hope you enjoy your stay in the city. Mas magiging maogma siguro si Raine kasi damo an activities he could indulge in.;-)
