Dirty Dancing (1987)A few months ago, I bought a DVD of Dirty Dancing. I’ve been replaying it over and over again since then. Especially that final dance number at the end of the movie.

I will always remember Patrick Swayze as the hot, mesmerizing dancer and a guy so straight he only ever married one woman. A fact that is too rare in hollywood.

Anyways…when he is dancing, all jaws just drop and you fix your eyes and your heart to that very moment. You don’t want the dance to stop.

Keep dancing Patrick Swayze, wherever you will be. Rest in peace!

So it seems that my rapid weight loss is due to the hyperthyroidism.

I was actually happy that I’ve been losing weight. But then the hyperthyroidism is actually the one doing that.

Here are the common symptoms of hyperthryroidism:

  • nervousness or irritability
  • fatigue or muscle weakness
  • trouble sleeping
  • heat intolerance
  • hand tremors
  • rapid and irregular heartbeat
  • frequent bowel movements or diarrhea
  • weight loss
  • mood swings
  • goiter, which is an enlarged thyroid that may cause your neck to look swollen

Guess what?! I had all symptoms! The weight loss heightened like 10 times. So weight loss supplements really weren’t necessary.

Raine and I just got back to the city early this morning. First of all, i lived like a pig (read: eating, sleeping and watching TV only) during the whole weekend. My mother was sooo kind enough to give me that break. Raine was of course happy to play with his playmates ’round the ‘hood. So it didn’t matter whether it was lola or me tending to him.

I felt the -ber chill this weekend. I was wrapped in clothes, from head to toe. Bathing was a tremendous challenge, what with the water being icy cold. Well maybe not really…but to me it was. Anyways, If only I didn’t have to take a bath. ;) He he. So I boiled water in the pot each time.

Or maybe it is just really hot in this city?? I really don’t know. I’m getting a temperature shock each weekend we come home. Early this morning, we were already waiting for a jeepney by 6 am. I was wearing long pants( for a change!!), a top and a light jacket. Ang lamig kaya ng hangin sa dyip ano! Anyways, by the time I brought Raine to school…I was still wearing that very outfit but sans the jacket.

One mom couldn’t help commenting: uyyyy…first time kita makitang naka-pants ah! I laughed. Then said: oo nga eh. Eh nag-pantalon na ako…kasi baka isipin ng mga tao di ako marunong mag-suot ng pantalon eh. Then we laughed together, out loud. ;)

Anyways…this has truly been a long day and I am surprised that I am still standing. The highlight of my day though is getting my free cellphone from Smart. ;) Woohoo. Nothing fancy, but i like it (Nokia 5000). Free ba naman, who am I to complain?! ;) Di ba?

Last night, I was out at maybe around 9 pm. I feel asleep putting Raine to sleep. By 3 am I was up. I left my computer on the whole night and so I surfed the web a bit, watched some youtube videos and a movie. Half-way through Made of Honor, I decided to go back to bed. This was like 430 or 445 am. I placed the alarm again at 530 and 545.

Alas I got up 708 am. What happened to the alarms? Don’t ask me.

The door was open and Raine was already watching KungFu Panda in my computer. I was horrified and it was my own fault. I rushed Raine through breakfast, taking a bath and putting on his PE uniform. While he was on those, I fixed his messy bag and lunch box. There were ants in the lunch box…I threw it on the kitchen floor and instead got a small tote bag for Raine to use.

9 am: Raine made it to school.

Earlier I was thinking on just bringing Raine to school at 1 pm. But I’ve got lots of errands today and Raine is going to slow me down if I take him with me.

Oh well…it’s Friday. As if that’s a valid excuse?! Ha ha ha!

Yes, Ellen DeGeneres has replaced Paula Abdul as the 4th judge in the coming season of American Idol.

It’s gonna be interesting.

Craig Berman wrote on msnbc.com:

The first reaction to the news that Ellen DeGeneres is replacing Paula Abdul as the fourth judge on “American Idol” is easy. Has everyone at FOX and 19 Entertainment lost their collective minds?

Ellen DeGeneres? The talk-show host whose experience with music is mostly limited to her awkward attempts to dance on her show? What can she possibly tell an aspiring musical star that would help him on his way?

I can’t wait how Ellen would react to Simon’s always rude remarks. But Ellen is always fun. So I guess she’s going to add a new dimension to the said show.

Watch Ellen’s announcement, here.

There’s this group of moms who looks at me in funny, weird ways each time I enter the parents’ waiting area in Raine’s school. There were even times that after checking me out from head to toe, they whispered at each other’s ears and then laughed with all their might. I don’t exactly know why…but I’m guessing it is my daily get-up. Shorts (usually a little bit above the knee), shirt blouse/loose shirt and a pair of slip-ons. Well I just go there to fetch Raine. Besides ang INIT kaya dito noh! In the morning I put him inside a tricycle to go to school. I don’t go with him of course because most often I haven’t taken a bath yet.

So I just go back there at 1130, take Raine to lunch, change his sando and put some powder on his upper body and go back home again at 1 pm once Raine is inside his classroom again. My last trip to the school is at 4 pm and then both of us go back home. But not  until Raine had his fill of after-school play.

Our house is a minute walk to the school. Yes, a minute! It’s that near. I just go there for Raine. Why would I dress up? I’m not going to work in some office nor I’m going to go to some party. So why would I dress up? I’m comfy with my daily get-up, so they better take it or leave it. Somebody said I dress cool and makes me look at a lot younger. Well…thank you very much. I just wanna move around in clothes I’m comfortable in.

Yesterday…it was the principal herself who brought Raine to the clinic after the eye-poking incident.

This morning, some moms told me that the principal already talked to the bully’s mom. However, she twisted the story when she came out and said that it was her son’s eyes poked by Raine.

What?!

Raine ended up in the clinic. He’s got red, swollen eyes and scratches around her eyes. (It was not just a piece of crayon used in poking, but the bully’s whole hand, by the way.)

Now the bully’s mom has twisted the story upside down. Maybe to save face in front of the other moms? Gosh, what kind of person is that?

I haven’t been able to talk to her yet because she has disappeared on me. I texted her a couple of times yesterday, but I didn’t get any reply. Maybe avoiding a confrontation with me? Well then, they (mother + bully son) already smell guilty.

(You know…I’m such a bad mom…sa awa ko kay Raine at sa galit ko dun sa bully…I told him to punch the bully in the face really hard, the next time around. To put a stop to the bullying once and for all. Then I told him not to be afraid, take care of himself and take care of the situation. Whatever he can’t take care of? I’ll take over.)

The class bully picked on Raine again.

At lunch break, Raine didn’t come out of the gate on time…so I went inside to his classroom. I was told that the principal brought Raine to the school clinic. When he arrived and I saw him for the first time, his right eye was swollen and red. Both eyes have red scratches around. The bully threw crayons at Raine’s face and hit the eyes. That’s what I’ve been told.

WTF?!

My thyroid is hyper. That’s what my EENT concluded based on my test results. Surgery wasn’t recommended though, because there was something wrong with my thyroid hormones (I’ve got too much).

So I will be on thiamazole for a month. If I respond to it, then well and good. If not? Then I will be referred to an endocrinologist.

My EENT’s orders (August 7, 2009)

1) Ultrasound of thyroid gland and neck

2) blood tests: T3, T4, TSH and CBC.

My mother is dragging me early this morning. I’m not resisting. ;) He he.

Your prayers are badly needed. Thanks a lot.

Yesterday I received the greatest news ever.

My old time college dorm friend and her daughter has been approved for U.S. petition.

My friend got married (2nd time) earlier this year to an American Special Ed Teacher.

That friend of mind never had it easy with relationships. She had her first marriage (to a Pinoy) annulled years back.

The whole process was of course painful, stressful and not to mention uber-expensive. (Which she shouldered all of course because she was the one who filed for it.)

Eventually, she won full costudy of her very pretty and smart daughter.

Now they’re moving to the U.S. to start anew with family life. I’m sooo happy for them both.
