month-ender
Raine and I just got back from a another long weekend. No classes last Friday in Raine’s school as it was the high school students’ turn for the DAT (Division Achievement Test). We went home Thursday early evening and just got back in the city this afternoon. Done cleaning, grocery shopping and ironing Raine’s uniforms. Thankfully I didn’t have to look for joint pain relief.
It was another weekend of pigging out and oversleeping in the mornings. The weather was beach-ready and I was raring to hit the beach. But everyone was just so KJ that my plan didn’t pull through.
Anyways….better luck next time. There will be a lot of next times anyway.
Today is the last day of February and marks what remains of the school year — 3 weeks na lang. Then it’s summer time. He he he.

diet and weight
This time I think I need appetite suppressants.
He he he.
I don’t know if it is the meds giving me bad hunger pangs in between meals, or am I just extra takaw these days?
Either way, I’m expanding like a balloon every single day. At 135 lbs, I’m already overweight.
Forget my goiter weight. Somebody told me I looked like a shabu-addict back then. So it was that bad, huh?
Ha ha ha!
Anyways…I’m trying to stick to the low-purine, low-carb diet. The low-purine part is easy. But I’m having a hard time with the low-carb part. You see I love rice and bread too much, I’m getting headaches when I try to cut down on carbs.

i’m soo excited
Just a job prospect and I’m already dancing with joy.
He he he.
Who needs the best wrinkle cream when I’m smiling ear to ear?
I’m that desperate, huh? Yes I am.
I need that job so badly…I wish I’ll even get shortlisted. Please pray that I get it.
It’s not for me, it’s for Raine.
Besides, I really need a regular salary so badly. It’s been years and I’m raring to go back to the grind. Is that asking too much?
fun weekend
While I’ve been popping meds like prenatal vitamins, I pigged out this past weekend. It was hard to resist adobong pusit, stir-fried fresh shrimps and pork sinigang among others. Low carb diet my foot! Everything was best with rice.
You get the picture? He he he.
Anyways, Raine and I both needed the break. While I feasted on my mother’s cooked meals, Raine had a blast flying a kite (Tito Kambal made it for him) outside in the sun. I’ve never seen him that happy and free in the last couple of months.Kids should really run around at times and burn all that energy. At night, Raine even voluntarily goes to bed and he’s out the moment his head hits the pillow. He was that tired. But really happy.
I bet Raine too can’t wait for summer vacation.
long weekend ahead
Finally, Raine’s Saturday classes are over. We have tomorrow free at last. Then Monday is a national holiday (people power revolution).
That means Raine and I get to go home this afternoon. Woo hoo!
Ready the entertainment centers honey coz we’ll be home. Ooops…I forgot you aren’t home either.
He he he.
Anyways…I miss home. This time we get to stay 3 nights in a row. Bliss!
meds, meds, meds
While I take the following meds:
anti-hypertensive (3X a day)
anti-hyperthyroidism (3X a day)
anti-thrombotic (once a day)
cholesterol-lowering (once a day)
antibacterial (3X a day for oral; once a month for 12 months for injected)
Can somebody please whisk me away on London rentals vacation, …until such time that everything stabilizes and I’m ready for the surgery.
Ha ha ha! Wish ko lang! That while sticking to a heart-healthy, low purine, low carbs diet. (Good luck sa akin!)
Anyways, the culprit really is hyperthyroidism. All my current cardiovascular woes are secondary to it. Once my heart’s condition stabilizes, then I’m ready for surgery.
It’s not easy arriving at the above prescription. I had to undergo lots of blood tests, urinalysis, x-ray, 2D Echo and ECG. It’s not easy talking to the cardiologist either as most that comes out of his mouth sounds like bad news. My heart is swollen, left and right atrium dilated and the heart valve is infected with a pneumococcal bacteria. For the later I’m taking both oral and and injected antibiotics.
My heart, my heart. Kawawa naman ang heart ko. How’s that for heart’s month?
i’m tired
Needed: replacement batteries.
Coz I’m dead tired with all the ‘tune-up’ being done to my body.
I’m tired of going back and forth to the hospital for various tests, follow-up check-ups and medications.
But then it is for my benefit, so I shouldn’t complain.
He he.
First of all, I should sue the EENT I consulted about my goiter. Mine is hyperthyroidism — the toxic type of goiter that should have been removed (by surgery or radiation therapy) already in the first place. Then he gave me a light dosage of thyroid problem meds.
5 months later and I’m having palpitations and persistent chest pains. I was rushed to the ER because of this. A blessing in disguise really as I was forced to see an internist/cardiologist the following day. Then my health saga begins.
Abangan.

There are a lot of stuff going on with me right now. I just can’t blog about it yet.
Right now I’m focusing on my health.
Tests. Tests. Tests. Never-ending tests.
I just wish I have lots of loose diamonds to sell. All that’s been happening is costing me a lot of money.
But that’s just money. Health is more important.
In the middle of all these, I’m surrounded by family, love ones and their never-ending support. It’s really, really nice to be pampered at times. Eventhough you wish you’re rather not be pampered as long as you are in A-1 condition.
But then I’m such a sucker for special attention.
He he he.
dream house update
It has been awhile that I haven’t talked about nor taken a picture of our house, where bulk of my blog money went into at that time when blogging money was at a sky high and we’ve been struck by several typhoons. There was no choice but to build and reconstruct.
We’ve been living at the said house even though it isn’t fully polished yet. Different storms struck us, the boys went back to school and Raine started the big school. The American Recession came and blog money went into a plunge. We had to tighten our belts. Besides, we just gotta eat and send the boys to school.
Miracles happen. After a series of trainings and loans my seaman brother is now a 3rd mate. That wasn’t easy, my mother has to suffer no allotment for six months. Angels came into our lives and helped us survive the trying times. We paid the loans (some we are still paying, but we’re getting there) and tighten our belts some more.
hindi ako excited
Speaking of summer vacation…this time I’m not going to resort to books (like I did during Christmas vacation).
This time we are going places. Raine and I will visit my sister-in-law in Meycauayan, Bulacan and then we will head on to Subic to visit Ninang Gemma.
For sure we will hit the beach and do more fun stuff that Raine will enjoy as well.
My mother will tag along too. So it’s going to be fun!
february na!
In a few minutes I’ll be taking Raine to school. Gosh it’s Monday again and we barely had a weekend. It’s just 634 and I’m already dead tired. Raine just wasn’t cooperating this early. I have to do some ’shock and awe’ moments in order for him to move from the bed, to the kitchen table and then to the bathroom.
Hayyy. My only consolation these days is that summer vacation is on the horizon. I can’t wait!
